My partner Vivian and I recently moved to the Greater DC area, just over the river in Virginia, where she's pursuing an FMAHealth Fellowship in Policy. One of her current endeavors is a catalogue of Family Medicine practitioners in Virginia; data which will be used to describe accessibility to primary healthcare, among other things.
I thought I could be of some help in collecting some of the data. I wrote a simple scraper for the NPI Registry API, the Google Maps API, and formatted and combined this data with the Physician Compare National Data.
I've included some of the source below, and embedded a small version of the map produced with Folium (Leaflet.js).
